Underway again

At last, the long winter is over. It’s time to head to Dublin, where our POLARIS has been in winter storage since last October. Once there, everything is in order. Of course, after such a long time on land, there are always a few new issues to sort out. But on the whole, everything is fine. There seem to be a few minor electrical problems here and there. But these are quickly identified and resolved until the new spare parts arrive.

Now that our POLARIS is back in the water, we’re making the final preparations before our first guests arrive in Malahide, Ireland. It’s a great feeling to finally be back on the water with like-minded people.

Our first trip then takes us north along the Irish coast. After a few stopovers along the fabulous coastline of the Emerald Isle, we reach Belfast. A city that is as interesting as it is worth seeing, with a rich and vibrant history. Just as we did a few years ago, we’re moored here very close to the TITANIC shipyard. It’s always a special feeling, and a visit to the unique museum rounds off this experience perfectly.

We’re now heading over to Scotland. To be more precise, to Campletown. We’re well known here too by now, so we’re able to secure a berth for our Garcia quickly and without any hassle. Passing the picturesque Mull of Kintyre, we set sail once more, heading north. Here we make another stop on the mystical island of Gigha. In a bay here, there are numerous mooring buoys for sailors, and on land the rustic Boathouse awaits with delicious food.

Let’s see where else we end up over the next few days. The weather is set to remain mild and calm, and with Tobermory and the Small Islands, there are still plenty of lovely destinations to visit before we carry out our first crew change in Oban and then set off for the Hebrides and St Kilda.

Ahoy… Your HS-Segelreiden Team
